Entering into a New Digital Era

Entering into a New Digital Era

So I’ve finally entered into the tablet era and purchased an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil over the holidays.  Aside from being a HUGE iPad, I’m hoping this tablet will be another tool to help me with my painting.  My creative process usually involves a lot of sketching with paper and pencil, but I am hoping this iPad will be another media I can explore (and save paper/physical storage with).  I am already impressed with what people do in digital art, but the plan is to not really leave my original painting world in search of another.  Call me old, but there is something about going to a place and seeing a physical work of art versus looking at a screen or photo.

With a lot of options out there, I ended up going with an Apple product due to the tablet size and the amount of reviews the Apple Pencil had as a stylus.  My first concern was having a little more control with the stylus as well as being really responsive.  The iPad Pro pressure sensitivity paired with the pencil really gives me the control I want without being too much of an MS paint application.  Believe me, I have tried to draw with a mouse and paint (and continue to fight the good fight), but nothing will compare to putting graphite to paper and getting thoughts, intentions, and drafts in.  It has been about a month or so and the tablet is a welcome addition to my life.  Probably use it more for personal than artistic purposes at the moment, but hopefully that will all change.

Next purchase will be to actually purchase a drawing/sketch app that is not free.
