A friend of mine informed me of another art contest. I really did not think I would be able to finish anything before the deadline (Oct 8th), but after thinking and reflecting on the subject matter... I was able to come up with two entries! One, of course is a little more abstract that the other, but we will see how this goes. I am still a little shell-shocked about the Bridge Run Design Contest since I really did not know what I was getting into, but I have a good idea of what I would like to submit for next year. Hopefully I get to run the race and draw some more inspiration from Charleston.... Until then I will just keep plugging away. This contest is really unique in that the proceeds from the actual product that the artwork will go on all goes to fighting childhood hunger in America through the work of Share Our Strength.
The actual contest was brought to my attention by my friend Ally. The Capital Grille Restaurant is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Artist Series competition. Basically, they provide a wine and the contest is to find the artwork that will adorn the bottle label. The wine will not be named and will be offered at the Capital Grille for a limited time in 2011. The winner gets a case of the special limited production wine and an all-expenses paid excursion to Napa Valley.
Case of wine and a trip? Count me in. It was fun creating the pieces I did. I know it was in the spirit of competition, but I am hoping to draw some inspiration from more causes that I would actively be a part of in the future.
