I've been really bad about keeping the website updated, so I figured I would post about what I am working on currently. So far I've created 2 large paintings for use in design competitions in order for running events in Charleston. The first entry I submitted about two Saturday's ago was for Knology's Pajama Run 5K that is being held in November. Go to http://www.knology.com/pj5k for more info about the race and how it raises money for cancer research. I have not done this race personally, but hopefully plan on traveling down to Charleston this year to take part. Yesterday I finished my painting for the more popular Cooper River Bridge Run (http://www.bridgerun.com). The Bridge Run came and went on April 2, 2011 so I used the run as inspiration for my entry. Luckily I was able to improve my 10K time by about a minute compared to my 2010 time. Taking in the 40,000 runners... some in costumes, some running in teams, some serious runners, and some people out there to have fun and run across the unique cable stay bridge that is the Ravenel Bridge. I still have a ways to go in finishing my bridge run entry. There is the tricky case of lettering and getting all the important information on my design. Always have a hard time picking through fonts and getting the right feel for scale and size of the letters to make it just right.... Hopefully I can do better than last year's entry. I will post my entries when I hear back from the competitions, but until then... I'll keep you guys posted! |
