2015 Year In Review

2015 Year In Review

Sorry EVERYONE.  I have been rather bad about posting and keeping the website up-to-date.  Sad to say that my last post was almost a year ago.

2015 was a great year…. It just went by too fast and I did not get as much art/painting done as promised.  I finally feel settled in my condo and have slowly been making it more “lived-in”.  The great news is that I did complete some paintings!  The first painting was done for a personal client:  my new niece!!  She arrived in May of 2015 and I found myself caught without much time… luckily in baby world, they only really care about eating and sleeping early on.  Hopefully she doesn’t notice that her painting wasn’t in her room until about a month later.  My sister and brother-in-law are proud parents and named her Oona.  Every time I see a picture of her, I can’t help but smile.  Oona really injected a lot of much needed joy in our lives.

After the birth of my niece, the year seemed to fly by.  Dove head first into marathon training in the summer for my 4th full marathon in Chicago.  I did manage to buckle down and complete my first landscape painting in my new place.  It was inspired by my new location in Charlotte and captures one of my favorite views of the Charlotte skyline.  I was hoping this painting would trigger more inspiration, but between work, running, and traveling back and forth to Chicago – this would be the only landscape I produced in 2015.

The last and final painting I was able to fit into 2015 was for a client.  A Christmas present of their first home (from which they had just moved away).  I always get nervous with these painting since there is a lot of emotional attachment with the piece and I really hoped to capture the essence of the home so the painting does it justice.  Pressed for time during the holidays, I did not get a proper photo of it, but I did grab some shots to update the client along the way.  Here was the last iteration of the house on the right:

Overall I believe 2015 was a great year.  Maybe not in the painting production, but life in general.   Cheers for the upcoming 2016 and what it has to offer!  January is already almost completely in the books, so hope everyone has had a jump to their goals, resolutions, hopes, and dreams for 2016.
